About the building

The theatre opened in 1911 as The People’s Opera and still has the largest seated auditorium in Central Europe. It served as a second venue for the Hungarian State Opera House from 1951 to 2007 and from 2013 to 2022. The building underwent its most recent renovation between 2007 and 2013, which included refurbishing the auditorium and public areas.

About the project

Our firm concluded a long-term cooperation agreement with the Hungarian State Opera House to perform detailed room acoustic measurements, data evaluation evaluation and reverberation simulations in the Opera House and the Erkel Theater. We have performed detailed measurements, and carried out the acoustic condition assessment and evaluation.
