About the building
The eclectic-neo-baroque church was built in 1895 in the style, making it the oldest Lutheran church in Buda. During the siege of Budapest in 1945, the church was bombed and almost everything was destroyed, including the organ, except the façade. The restoration was completed in 1948, during which the church preserved its neo-baroque exterior. The church’s entrance is surmounted by a double gallery, which houses the church’s new organ built in 2017, which is also the largest Baroque organ in Hungary.
About the project
We performed numerical modelling calibrated with on-site measurements to perform an acoustic impact assessment aiming to define an optimal placement of the Budavár Evangelical Church’s new organ. During the project we examined the acoustic effects of different organ placement options and determined the most favorable solution from a room acoustic point of view. The computer model created during the status recording is shown in the image below.
