2020. on 1st September, the MSZ 2080:2020 national standard on Hungarian room acoustic requirements was published. Standardization started at the initiative of our company. By inviting a wide range of experts, the development lasted for about 4 years and affected schools, hospitals, offices and many other building types.
Compliance with the room acoustic requirements is one of the conditions for the proper use of the premises in connection with the essential requirements of noise and vibration protection.
The standard prescribes room acoustic requirements that can be described by objective parameters and makes recommendations for educational, health, healing, social, cultural, sports, financial, commercial, insurance, public utility, administrative, judicial, prosecutorial, accommodation, leisure, catering, office and industrial premises. The standard should be applied as a recommendation to specific rooms of group houses (e.g. townhouses, chain houses, atrium houses), semi-detached houses, and family houses (e.g. swimming pools, gyms). The standard does not apply to other premises of the aforementioned residential properties and to premises of other types of residential properties (e.g. condominiums). The new standard should also apply to the construction of new buildings, as well as to enlargements, changes of purpose and upgrades.
Further information on the standard can be found on the website of the MSZT .
The application of the standard is regulated by the 253/1997. (XII.20.) Government Decree [OTÉK] 55. § (2) which makes it mandatory in those investments to which the OTÉK applies to.
