About the building
The roots of the Piarist High School, Primary School and Kindergarten in Mosonmagyaróvár date back to the first half of the 18th century. The school was founded in 1739 by István Zsidanits, the chief tax collector of Moson County, and his wife, who invited Piarist monks to teach there. From this grew the present school, which provides its students with quality education for 12 years. In recent years, ambitious plans have been drawn up for a new school centre, which plans have won several prestigious international architectural awards, but later in 2020, the Piarist order finally decided to renovate and modernize the existing building complex instead of building a new school centre, since the construction would have exceeded the order’s financial means.
About the project
Our company carried out the complete acoustic design of the Piarist School Center in Mosonmagyaróvár. The irregular geometry of the different premises and the classrooms designed to function in non-frontal teaching situations as well made the project an extremely exciting acoustic design challenge. With individually designed room acoustic solutions, the design of open-plan teaching spaces have been implemented in a way that meets the latest international standards. We strongly believe that the right acoustic environment is essential in every educational institution. Good speech intelligibility is a prerequisite for our mostly speech-based education, which can only be ensured by proper acoustic design.
