About the building
The orchestra was founded as the Hungarian State Concert Orchestra in 1952, but its name was changed to the National Philharmonic Orchestra in 1997. Since 2005, the orchestra’s rehearsals and concert preparations are held in the rehearsal room of the Palace of Arts. As a musical purpose room, it is of paramount importance that the rehearsal room has the right acoustic properties.
About the project
Our company received a request from the Facility Management of Palace of Arts Budapest to assess the room acoustics of the National Philharmonic’s rehearsal room, and to prepare new room acoustic designs for the rehearsal room’s acoustic modernization.
The calibrated 3-dimensional room acoustic model of the rehearsal room was created through a detailed acoustic and geometric measurement process and the model was used to develop the new, optimised acoustic design which meets the requirements of the latest international musical acoustic standards while also providing an excellent practice environment.
